Hole 17

tour-17 Hole 17:
Par 5: 425-463-489 yards

A par 5 that can yield an eagle opportunity or lots of headaches. The tee shot from the blue tees must navigate trees fairly close to the right side of the tee box and a left side which features a red staked area just off the fairway. More small evergreen trees dot the right side in the landing area and often times a drive ending up in the middle of the fairway will leave you with a sidehill lie with the ball seemingly at kneecap height. A tee ball struck with authority will often leave the longer hitter a mid to long iron approach from a relatively flat lie. Anything shorter off the tee will leave a hanging lie that is often times pulled left out of bounds or blocked right into a cluster of trees and you may end up on the 18th tee trying to play a tricky bump and run or lob shot a mile high with out of bounds just 20 feet from the putting surface. A front pin placement here is enticing but hit it deep and 3 putts are common. A swale just short of the green gives the player a false sense of distance. A short par 5 with plenty of trouble abounding.
